Living a life true to yourself can come in many forms. In fact, it all depends on you as an individual and your wants and needs in life. At surrender to happiness, we incorporate many simple pleasures into our daily lives. These small habits and rituals all add up, allowing us to build the life we’re meant for. And we are here to help you to step into your higher self and find your purpose.
Journalling and gratitude.
Try incorporating journaling into your life. This doesn’t mean writing out your life’s story. It’s all about gratitude and remembering each day what we are grateful for. Grab your journal upon waking and write down five things you are grateful for. This allows you to begin your day already feeling blessed.
It’s also good to write another five things down before bed. Allowing you to reflect upon your day. Even if you haven’t had the best of days, there is always something to be grateful for. Clean running water from a tap in your home, warm clothing on a cold day. The simple pleasures many of us take for granted, that isn’t available to everyone.
Being able to quieten your mind is a skill we should all learn. As it allows us to bring calm into a hectic day. Giving us time to breathe and take a few minutes to relax. In turn, allowing us to look at things with fresh eyes or from a different point of view.
There are many different ways to approach meditation. Check out our blog on meditation practice ideas, look on the internet or join a class. Above all, find which way works best for you and try to incorporate it into your daily life.
Crystals vibrate with healing energies. With some being easier to use than others. As a beginner, it is easy to become overwhelmed with the amount of choice out there. So we have compiled a list of our top five beginner crystals. They are easy to work with and a wonderful start to a collection.
Clear quartz is the ‘master healer’ of crystals. It is a good crystal for absorbing negative energies, whilst intensifying positive energy. Clear quartz is a great starter crystal as it is a universal healer. Bringing balance and harmony to the mind, body and spirit. It is the ideal crystal for setting intentions and turning manifestations into reality. Using this with other crystals will amplify their energies.
Amethyst restores balance and harmony. We recommend amethyst as a starter crystal as it is an easy crystal to work with. Placed around a room it will clear unpleasant and negative energies. A versatile stone containing both healing and protection properties. Known to increase memory, aid concentration and calm the mind. It is a wonderful stone for sleep problems, helping to aid a restful nights sleep.
Rose quartz is known as the crystal of love. Another easy to use crystal, that helps the user to heal their heart. This is a calming crystal that aids emotional stress, whilst brightening your aura. Rose quartz raises self-esteem and boosts confidence. It is a champion at clearing negative energies. While replacing them with high vibrations of love.
Citrine is a great abundance stone. Known as a prosperity attractor, it is a wonderful manifestation crystal. Rather than absorb negative energy it dissipates it, clearing the way for positivity. Citrine is a motivation crystal, encouraging action and joy. Whilst also raising self-esteem and inspiring self-expression.
Green Aventurine is known as the bringer of luck. Again like citrine it boosts motivation and dispels negative energy. It also promotes emotional well being and increases perception. As well as calming anger and increasing patience. Green aventurine is a great all-around healer. In fact, like amethyst improves restful sleep and relaxation.

General health and fitness
As we all know our diets play a huge part in our health and wellness. If we are not fuelling our bodies properly. Or ensuring we are getting the right nutrients, then we are putting our health at risk. There are many people out there with very different dietary needs to one another. So we are not going to go into depth about this subject. But it is essential that in order to lead, healthy, happy lives we accept the need to eat well. We follow an 80/20 philosophy, whereby we eat good, healthy, nutritious food at least 80% of the time. But also allow ourselves other foods up to 20% of the time. As a result, we don’t feel restricted.
Exercise is another important factor in looking after our overall wellness. As we all know it keeps our body fit and agile. Additionally, it has many benefits for our mental wellbeing. But what many people misunderstand is that exercise can come in many shapes and forms. From a nice brisk walk to scrubbing that kitchen floor or digging over the garden. By keeping generally active in our daily lives and introducing different activities, we can have a full body work out. Too many spend their days sitting at a desk at work and moving to a couch on an evening. This is where the problems start. All in all, move that body, build up a sweat and get your heart pumping.
We practice yoga on a daily basis, starting off with sun salutations in the morning. This not only stretches your body and gets it moving ready for the day ahead. But also brings calmness to the mind and focus to the breath. It is a wonderful way to begin the day and has so many benefits. Such as keeping you flexible, strengthening your muscles and improving your breathing. So if you can have a go at least once a day and you will soon begin to feel the difference that small steps make.
