This is a beautiful little sage smudge set, ideal for beginners, or if you wish to clear your space effortlessly. The set consists of a small sage smudge stick to help cleanse and purify the space, a bag of dried cedar incense to help disperse negative energies, attract good spirits, and some lovely sweetgrass to attract positive energies.
There is also a charcoal disk to aid the burning of loose incense and an abalone shell to hold the smudging tools. Finally, a pretty feather is included in this set, so you can fan the smoke to ensure it reaches all areas of the space being cleansed. Smudging is important in Native American cultures, where it is a ritual used for spiritual cleansing and purification of people, places, and objects.
Never leave a burning a sage smudge stick, charcoal, sweetgrass, or dried cedar unattended. Only ever place in a heatproof container. Also, do not place the container on a flammable surface. Keep away from children and pets and do not ingest. Dispose of safely.
Be aware that these charcoal discs may sparkle profusely upon ignition. Allow sufficient air to flow around the charcoal to ensure burning. You may wish to open the window while it is igniting as it does give off smoke at this point. Once the charcoal disc has finished sparkling, it will start to glow, slowly spreading over the whole disc. Then, when the entire disc is glowing red hot, it is ready for adding the incense. Keep incense, and charcoal out of the reach of children—exercise due caution when igniting your charcoal disc and also when discarding the used ashes. Each sage smudge set will vary slightly in size, shape, color, and pattern. The approximate length of each sage smudge stick is 90mm. Each abalone shell measures around 60mm. While each sweetgrass bundle’s estimated size is 6mm, the size of each feather is approximately 150mm. And the estimated weight of the dried cedar is 5g.
Sage smudge stick
Light the tip of the smudge stick and lightly fan it to extinguish any flames and allow the leaves to smolder gently. Holding it over a heatproof container walk through your space. Start at the door of the space to be cleared and move in either the direction in which the door opens (if the door opens into the room) or in a clockwise direction. Allow the smoke to fill the space as you move around the room, ensuring it reaches all corners and areas of the room, clearing negative energies and replacing them with a positive flow. You may fan the smoke with your hand or a feather. As you walk around the space doing this you are systematically sweeping all the negative energy out of the door.
To cleanse your crystals with the sage smudge stick, hover the stick over your crystals allowing the smoke to permeate each crystal. When you are finished place your smudge stick in a fireproof container and extinguish it. Ensure the area is ventilated well.
Until you are ready to use it, we recommend that you store your sage smudge stick in a dark, dry place.
Dried cedar and sweet grass
To use the dried cedar and sweet grass incense, carefully break the charcoal disk into several pieces, as you will have enough charcoal, dried cedar and sweet grass to use more than once. Carefully light a small amount of the charcoal and place it in a heatproof container, place this on a heat resistant surface, once the charcoal is hot add either the dried cedar or sweet grass incense. Again you can disperse the smoke as you would with the smudge stick, using the feather to guide it around the room. Please ensure the dried cedar, sweet grass and charcoal is extinguished fully, before disposing of carefully.
PRECAUTIONS: Be aware that these discs may sparkle profusely upon ignition. Allow sufficient air to flow around the charcoal to ensure burning. You may wish to open the window whilst it is igniting as it does give off smoke. Once the charcoal disc has finished sparkling it will start to glow, slowly spreading over the whole disc. When the entire disc is glowing red hot it is ready for adding the incense. Keep incense, and charcoal out of reach of children. Exercise due caution when igniting your charcoal disc and also when discarding the used ashes.
